Wessex Judo Club

Building confidence, discipline and strength through judo

Welcome

Judo is a competitive Olympic sport as well as an art form that is now practised in almost every country of the world. The aim of the Wessex Judo Club is to promote the sport of Judo to children and adults of all ages within the local community of Poole. Judo combines agility, balance with technique through discipline of the mind and body, enabling the Judoka to use the opponents own weight and momentum against themselves.

Skilled practitioners of Judo can use it as a form of self-defence, enabling them to defeat opponents much larger than themselves. For young children it can provide the confidence to stand up to school bullies and can also be an outlet for unused energy and aggression, as well as a means of improving general fitness. It develops self-discipline and respect for oneself and others. together with a sharp reacting mind and body.
